Therapist Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT, Announces New Location for Practice

BRENTWOOD, TN – February 6, 2013 – Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT, may have changed office locations recently, but he has not changed what he is about.  On the contrary, Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT has only increased his fervor for seeing clients reach their goals and find freedom in living their lives to the fullest.

Thaddeus Heffner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist whose office has been located in the Brentwood, Tennessee area for the past four years.  Although he has recently moved his office, he has chosen to remain in the Brentwood area. Thaddeus Heffner believes that Brentwood is geographically centrally located to the rest of Nashville, conveniently making him that more accessible to those around and outside the city.

Thaddeus Heffner sees clients for many different presenting issues including marital counseling, shame and attachment issues, and addictions.  A good portion of Thaddeus Heffner’s practice is spent in helping those who struggle with unwanted same sex attraction.  Whatever the presenting issue, Thaddeus Heffner is also certified in EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing.  In practicing EMDR, Thaddeus Heffner helps clients to work through, as well as desensitize, their simple and complex traumas.

Whether he is working with individuals, couples, or small groups in his office, Thaddeus Heffner takes a client centered approach. Most important to Thaddeus Heffner is the client’s right to self-determine his or her life path and goals in the counseling process and therapeutic relationship.  Nothing could be more important to Thaddeus Heffner when working through the therapy process than a client’s right to autonomy. To him it is not only a foundational ethic, but also the bedrock of respecting his clients.

Within his Brentwood, TN office, Thaddeus Heffner seeks to maintain a safe place for his clients to bring their whole selves.  Without making someone feel safe and secure, Thaddeus Heffner does not believe it is possible for an individual to move very far in his or her personal goals and therapeutic work.  For a client to know that what they say is kept confidential is key to creating a safe place.  Thaddeus Heffner also reports that to further build trust with his clients, they need to be able to know that they can be completely authentic with the therapist.  A person needs to know that they can say or feel whatever they need to, and this is the atmosphere they find in Thaddeus Heffner’s office.

The view from his office may have changed, but the things that are most important to Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT as it relates to taking care of his clients haven’t changed.

Thaddeus Heffner, LMFT is a member in good standing with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, the American Association of Christian Counselors, and the Nashville Area Association of Christian Counselors.

Thaddeus Heffner: A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Thaddeus Heffner offers counseling to individuals, couples, families, as well as groups for both women and men. Heffner is certified in the areas of EMDR for trauma, family of origin dysfunction, and unwanted same sex attraction. He also volunteers with several organizations including New Adam and People Can Change. Thaddeus Heffner has worked with “at-risk youth” in the public school system and currently sees clients at the Center for Relational Healing in Brentwood, TN.
