Currey Ingram Academy Now Offers South’s First Boarding School

In a move just as sweet as the tea we all know and love, Currey Ingram Academy (CIA), a private school in Brentwood, now offers a boarding option for students in grades 9 through 12. Known as the top ADHD school in Tennessee, CIA also services students with other learning differences, including dyslexia.

Currey IngramNASHVILLE, TN — March 31, 2020 — Currey Ingram Academy is pleased to announce that it is accepting students for the 2020/2021 school year. This is big news to many students in the south as boarding schools are not typically associated with any state below the Mason-Dixon line. Until the 2019/2020 year, parents looking for boarding schools in Brentwood were out of luck.

In 2019, CIA opened up an expansive residential extension for students in high school. This move was brought on by a high demand for an ADHD boarding school so that students with this and other learning differences could have access to academic support around the clock.

According to administrators, students from their freshman year on may choose to live on campus and are entitled to all the benefits thereof. This includes a fully immersive environment, where students are supported 24/7. Students enrolled in the boarding program have full access to daytime academics and services after school to support their special needs. A school in Nashville with this option has been needed for many years, but only CIA has the resources and experience to make it happen.

Parents that wish to inquire about admissions may contact the CIA admissions office. Boarding students who live outside of the greater Nashville area can schedule ahead for an on-campus tour. Once that step is complete, parents must submit IEP documentation and other academic forms to the admission team for review. Prior to acceptance, students in grades nine through 12 must attend classes for one “shadow” day. Once a decision has been reached, students and their families will be contacted by a school representative to schedule a start day.

Families looking for a learning difference boarding school in Tennessee will appreciate CIA’s proximity to Nashville. Boarding students are a stone’s throw from all that Music City has to offer, including historical sites, such as the Parthenon, music venues, the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators, and hundreds of parks and nature trails within Davidson, Williamson, and the surrounding counties.

Upper school boarding students experience so much more than just a place to sleep and study. Division head Dr. Jane Hannah works tirelessly with staff and administrators to ensure a sweeping variety of before and after school programs are available. Students may choose to participate in the Student Council, join a sporting team, or engage in the fine arts. Further, freshmen through senior students at this private school in Brentwood are expected and encouraged to provide community service. Students are tasked each year with finding a meaningful service opportunity, where they will provide 30 hours of their time to give back to the community.

Currey Ingram is excited to offer a boarding school in Brentwood. The administration fully hopes that the idea of a dyslexia boarding school catches on and that residential programs become as common in the south as sweet tea and cicadas in the summer.

Currey Ingram Academy was founded in 1968. For 34 years, the school was known as Westminster School of Nashville and was housed in the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In 2002, thanks to a grant from the Ingram family, the school relocated to its current palatial 83-acre campus estate. Today, families from eight countries and 33 states trust Currey Ingram to educate and nurture their students, which range from kindergarten through the 12th grade.

Currey Ingram currently enjoys a 100% college acceptance rate and offers specialized services for students with dyscalculia, ADHD, executive functioning deficits, dyslexia, and other learning differences.
