Pam Gray, Bonaventure COO says pin represents senior living communities’ commitment to local charities.

SALEM, Oregon – April 26, 2013 – Pam Gray of Bonaventure Senior Living recently announced the release of a pin to represent the company’s “Bonaventure & You” campaign. As Pam Gray of Bonaventure explains, “Bonaventure & You” is a program that encourages residents to participate in its charitable giving efforts by allowing residents to choose which local charities to support.

The Bonaventure & You pin includes a green ribbon and dove, reports Pam Gray, COO of Bonaventure Senior Living. This pin is currently being sported by residents who supported the communities’ fundraising efforts by choosing a local charity at the time they joined the community as a resident. The campaign was so popular, Pam Gray and the Bonaventure Senior Living team have decided to make it an annual event.

According to Pam Gray, Bonaventure Senior Living donated more than $150,000 in its first year. Pam Gray of Bonaventure explains that new residents were able to choose the local charity to which Bonaventure would direct a $1,000 donation. The first resident to proudly wear the Bonaventure & You pin was new community member Donald Kaehler, who chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society as the charity to be supported by Bonaventure Senior Living.

The release of the pin followed a celebration by Pam Gray and Bonaventure staff and residents. As Pam Gray of Bonaventure explains, the surrounding community was invited to attend the event to celebrate the campaign accomplishments, as well as thank participants for their hard work. In addition to the $1,000 donation from new residents and $500 from current resident referrals, Pam Gray of Bonaventure notes the home office of Bonaventure Senior Living kicked in an additional $70,000.

Ribbons have become a popular way for people to show their support for charities, says Pam Gray of Bonaventure. She states that the Bonaventure & You campaign was a way for the communities to get residents involved in the company’s charitable support. Local charities were also encouraged to participate by referring residents in exchange for additional $500 donations. Each Bonaventure community, including Kaehler’s Orchard Heights, was allowed to select additional local charities to which Pam Gray and Bonaventure Senior Living would ensure bonus donations of $250 each would be directed.

Through this program, says Pam Gray of Bonaventure, the community was able to add such charities as the Alzheimer’s Network, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and many others to its roster of charities it supports. By including residents, Pam Gray of Bonaventure Senior Living believes that Bonaventure is able to further emphasize the family-oriented home-like feel the senior living communities have.

Pam Gray joined Bonaventure Senior Living nearly a decade ago after two decades in the business. She was impressed by the management of Bonaventure, noting that the communities’ management includes some of the biggest names in senior care today, including CEO Kelley D. Hamilton, Pam Gray of Bonaventure says.

Pam Gray says Bonaventure & You is just one of many ways the Bonaventure communities try to incorporate their residents into activities. The company strives to make retirement an enjoyable experience for every resident, Pam Gray of Bonaventure reports.
