According to Tiffani Von Alvensleben, busy moms and career women have been beating themselves up for years over their parenting skills. They aren’t the only ones, either. Mainstream media has thrown its jabs at working moms since the 1950’s, notes Tiffani Von Alvensleben.

SACRAMENTO, California – February 6, 2013 – An accomplished entrepreneur and mother, Tiffani Von Alvensleben has spent many years pursuing a business career and melding it with a happy home life. Recently she took some time to speak about the principles that have informed her abilities to rear well-adjusted, happy teens in a hectic 21st century world.

Starting a family is wonderful but once those babies begin to hit teenage years, reports Tiffani Von Alvensleben, life doesn’t seem so rosy all the time. Teens are a hard bunch to parent–much less relate to in any meaningful way. According to Tiffani Von Alvensleben, the teen years rival the terrible-twos in amount of parent anguish.

Informed parents like Tiffani Von Alvensleben realize the racing hormones and biological changes that are happening in a teenage human sometimes make decision making and rational decision making hard.

Today’s world makes it easier than ever to stumble across life’s more seedy elements. Years ago a young boy had to go through some pretty strenuous and sneaky activity to get his hands on a cigarette or racy magazine or a sip of whiskey. Modern times have not only made phone calls and travel easier but also access to bad habits.

Fortunately, along with the bad comes some good. The owner of several businesses, Tiffani Von Alvensleben has discovered several secrets to raising children successfully in the midst of a booming business career, and she says it is possible for all parents to do the same.

Don’t Get Lazy

Parenting is a hard job and it never stops, says Tiffani Von Alvensleben. Staying consistent is an important part of raising a child. Wavering on the rules and punishments instills a feeling of uncertainty. Children require a feeling of safety and knowing what to expect is a big part of that. Children that feel insecure and unsafe throughout their childhood develop far more issues in teen years than those who were properly nurtured. Tiffani Von Alvensleben suggests using a chore chart that also lists the punishments if chores aren’t completed.

Time is on Your Side

So many parents are of the misguided notion that money equals love. This could not be further from the truth, according to Tiffani Von Alvensleben. She advises that time spent talking, relating and just hanging out with a child is an investment that pays off triple-fold. Tiffani Von Alvensleben uses her hectic work schedule to bond with her children. If time is an issue, incorporating children into work related activities can kill two birds with one stone, adds Von Alvensleben.

Tiffani Von Alvensleben also encourages her children to help with simple design decisions, work oriented shopping trips and event planning. She says that having the kids involved in daily activities encourages their self esteem by showing their opinion is valueable and important.

Get Involved

While football might not be your thing, going to your kid’s game pays off big time. Even if it’s the chess club and you don’t know a pawn from a knight, take the time to get involved in your child’s activities and interests. Tiffani Von Alvensleben uses both her time and her finances to support the sports programs at Del Oro High School, a practice that has not only helped her own children but also the children of the entire community.
